Due to inclement weather, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has postponed two open houses scheduled for last week regarding the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line being developed along U.S. Route 29 between the Silver Spring Transit Center and Burtonsville.
The US 29 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) open houses have been rescheduled to:
April 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Blair High School, Cafeteria, 51 University Blvd East, Silver Spring
April 4, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the White Oak Community Center, Social Hall, 1700 April Lane, Silver Spring
The new BRT line is expected to begin service in 2020 and will be the first of its kind in Maryland. When it is complete, the BRT will feature limited stops, off-board fare collection, priority signaling, Wi-Fi, and level-boarding through all doors to provide a faster ride. Stations will have real-time travel information.
The open houses will highlight how the BRT may provide residents and commuters an easier, faster, more reliable, and less stressful way to travel. There will be information about all aspects of the project, displays, opportunities to share feedback, and a children’s activity area. Both open houses will provide identical information.
