• Be Careful in Work Zones

    Thursday, October 19, 2017

The Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services is reminding pedestrians and cyclists to be careful in areas where construction is taking place.

"In the event a sidewalk has been temporarily closed for construction activities, an alternate route has been signed to safely convey pedestrians around the work area. Although it may not be the most direct route, it is the safest route.  DPS representatives have observed many instances where pedestrians walk in the roadway  to get around a sidewalk closure, ignoring signage, and jeopardizing their safety.  Remember to take the extra steps to make it through a construction work zone safely."

"STAY SAFE AND WALK ONLY ON DESIGNATED CROSSWALKS, SIDEWALKS, AND PATHS.  WALKING IN THE ROADWAY OR INTO A CONSTRUCTION WORK ZONE PUTS EVERYONE AT RISK."
